Tariffs and Duties
Tariffs & Duties – Important Update for Our Customers
As of May 2025, recent U.S. trade policy changes will affect your orders from Acme Cups USA. We want to provide you with some important information regarding these changes.
Reduced Tariffs on Chinese Goods: Following a new agreement between the U.S. and China, tariffs on Chinese imports have been significantly reduced. Previously, tariffs were as high as 145%, but they have now been lowered to 30% for a 90-day period starting May 14, 2025. These new tariff numbers are in addition to any existing duty rates that were applicable on imports and vary from product to product.
De Minimis Rule Changes: The U.S. has eliminated the duty-free exemption for shipments under $800 from China and Hong Kong. These low-value imports are now fully subject to customs duties.
What This Means for You
Up until very recently, as a small and local business, we were pleased to cover all customs and import fees for all orders shipped into the U.S. The previous taxes on these products, around 9-15%, were manageable enough that we wanted to ensure a seamless experience for you by absorbing these added costs.
However, with the recent drastic increases in U.S. import fees on Chinese goods, we regretfully can no longer absorb these costs. To continue providing you with the high-quality cups you expect, any applicable import duties will now be calculated and collected upfront during checkout. You'll see a clear "Duties" line on your order summary before completing your purchase.
Please understand that Acme Cups USA does not retain or benefit from these duties and tariffs. These charges are directly determined by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)'s current tariff schedule.
Shipping carriers (like FedEx, UPS, USPS) act as customs brokers and handle clearance with U.S. Customs. They charge brokerage fees for this service, which Acme Cups USA will continue to pay and will not pass on to you.
While we are committed to ensuring the accuracy of duty collection, our systems may occasionally have gaps. If an order happens to be processed without the required duties, we will need to contact you to either collect the missing payment or offer a full cancellation and refund of your order, whichever you prefer.
Please also be aware that U.S. customs processing may, unfortunately, add a few extra days to your delivery time. We recommend allowing for this potential delay when placing your order.
We deeply appreciate your patience and understanding during this challenging time. We understand that you may have additional questions, and although the situation with U.S. tariffs is complex and continuously evolving, we are here to help you as best we can. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any concerns or need clarification regarding how these duties may apply to your order.
Thank you for your continued support of Acme Cups USA.
Sincerely,
The Acme Cups USA Team
